But also creating calming points and sorting sensory impressions as well as sensations can often lead to an explosive mixture of feelings, which not infrequently ends up in a tantrum.
Researchers see the causes in an increasing overstimulation. Because children are often exposed to demands that are only conditionally reasonable even for adults. Exactly this time, in which children should develop naturally and get to know themselves, is increasingly marked by stress and strict expectations.

Children's yoga - yoga sessions that are specially tailored to the needs of children - picks up the youngest yogis in their world of life: In yoga with children, a posture or exercise is not explained in detail as in adult yoga. Instead, the yoga teachers consciously rely on the children's intuition and work with what presents itself as a natural foundation.
Imagine telling your son or daughter to get into the dog position. Most likely, your child will not ask what this kids yoga exercise should look like, but will go on all fours on their own. This is exactly what a specially trained teacher of children's yoga can build on.
Children's yoga is therefore rather a "being allowed to experience" in the context of playful learning. The child's need for movement and the acquisition of new knowledge is met through the alternation of tension and relaxation in an age-appropriate way.
In order to tailor these offerings to the experience and needs of the children, three age divisions are usually made. Accordingly, children's yoga has these three age group divisions:

Yoga has been proven to promote the ability to concentrate, improve one's own body awareness, strengthen the musculature, balance the breathing, provide greater flexibility and stabilise the sense of balance in the long term. However, children do not only benefit from the improved body awareness through regular yoga practice, children's yoga also has an effect on their self-confidence and psychological stability. Because those who are in harmony with themselves are not easily disturbed by external influences. Especially children with ADHD or shy children benefit from this.
In addition, the children experience a balance to the kindergarten and school day. Sitting for long periods of time, staying quiet, fixed schedules and concentrated work are particularly difficult for children who need variety and have a natural urge to move. Therefore, children's yoga starts at this point and compensates for long periods of concentration by movement. This trains motor skills and promotes coordination.
The fact that yoga for children is not only a perfect whole-body workout, but also increases the ability to concentrate has been proven by scientific studies. In kindergarten and school groups, where there are regular children's yoga sessions, an improvement in social behavior could even be observed. So, take heart and let your child discover yoga for themselves.
Kids yoga ideas are a dime a dozen. However, there are a few that have a low entry threshold and are therefore ideal for the start. We have brought you three examples that not only a trained teacher of yoga, but also you yourself as a parent or guardian can use.
Probably the simplest and at the same time most exciting way to incorporate children's yoga exercises is the children's yoga adventure journey: For example, the yoga teacher tells a story that takes place in the jungle, on a farm or in an animal park, where the listeners are actively involved in the action.
Whenever an animal appears in the yoga adventure journey, the children imitate the corresponding animal poses. Thus, the little yogis may encounter a cat, a dog or a frog. In this way, all the senses are addressed and the children can also follow the exercises in the long term.
Narrative parts with meditation - i.e. consciously going down and quiet breathing - can be integrated here just as much as exercises that really get the circulation going. The children's yoga adventure journey requires only a little preparation - or at least the yoga teacher should have a rough roadmap for the story and the exercises, along with the desired effect. Your imagination is waning right now? No problem: use children's books to read to your audience.
A class assignment is coming up or your offspring needs to calm down in a certain situation? Then the thinking cap is a good children's yoga exercise. The thinking cap is very simple and can be performed at any time as needed. For this, acupressure points in the auricle are massaged. Simply run your thumb and forefinger along the auricle from top to bottom and gradually apply pressure.
What does crazy jumping around have to do with yoga? A lot, because the frog really gets the circulation going. For the frog, simply squat down, hop around and croak to your heart's content. Especially the youngest will have fun with this exercise.
A shared yoga routine with your child does more than you think.
Experience has shown that it doesn't take much to get the next generation excited about yoga. Most children are curious and like to try out new things. Here you can introduce and implement children's yoga ideas quite simply with little effort and didactic skill.
Your child is already a bit older, is in the middle of a hormonal turmoil and is rather insecure when it comes to speaking and working in groups? In such cases it is important to convey to the young people that they are taken seriously and noticed as personalities with their fears, needs and interests.
Therefore, it is always useful to first find out what moves the future yoga students and what interests them. This way you can perfectly coordinate the exercises and pick up the young people where they are at the moment. For example, factors such as coordination, concentration and body awareness are central elements in yoga, which are essential for all aspiring professional footballers or dancers. So once the expected added value has been clarified, your child will certainly open up a bit and want to try yoga.
